About the program
Mountain Women Code (Wicode) is a program which figures the emergence of a generation of African women who should be at the center of the digital revolution, in order to engender significant value for their lives and communities.
Wicode would like to strengthen these women's interest in science and technology, by developing their skills, leading them to think in a pragmatic and logical way, and above all by participating in the deconstruction of stereotypes linked to code.
Stereotypes generally restricts the interest and the possibilities of women in the domain of science and technology. Looking at these fields as men bound, they lose the opportunity to equitably contribute to the erection of the world, on equal footsteps.
Wicode aims to deconstruct these stereotypes by contributing to the development of women’s skills and capacities in a personalized and inclusive way. This program would like to strengthen their leadership and free their potential in order to optimize their capacities.

Services
Training
It will take place in-person and online for a period of two months. The in-person sessions will take place in Cameroon from July 01st to September 30st 2023, in Dschang. Working sessions will be organized every day within the premises of the Young Social Development Actors (YSDA). The online training will run from July 01st to September 30st 2023.
E-Mentoring
It’s an online program between African Tech Professionals based in Africa and abroad and beneficiaries of the Wicode program. It comprises collaboratively planned working sessions between mentors and mentees covering 4-8 weeks, to guide mentees on science and technology issues.
The sharing of opportunities
In the course of this program, participants will be in touch with tech professionals who have developed their potential. The aim is to open up the learners to the world and the opportunities available in the field of technology and science.
Integration into real projects
After training, the next move will consist in putting the acquired notions and skills into practice. M-MIW would like to develop women’s potential and put forward their expertise. Hence, women will be integrated into the projects to follow their training process.

In accordance with the objectives of this initiative, which mainly consists of contributing to the creation of a digital ecosystem in peri-urban areas, you can be part of the mentor team of the Mountain Women In Code program 2022 edition.
